Medallion Placemat. Based on a vintage placemat I was asked to recreate for someone in my Loose Knit Group, this pattern is made up of 12 medallions that join as you go, creating both a pattern in the negative as well as positive space. Because the joins look so much like poinsettias, these would make a nice design for the holidays in red. The model was crocheted in Aunt Lydia's Crochet Denim, but it would look good in almost any crochet cotton. The original vintage placemat was worked in some sort of very thick acrylic and they stood up well to many years of washing. |
